What does "spill your seed" in the Bible mean?
Well, there is a story in the Old Testament about a man named Onan who was to produce offspring for his late brother, Er. Onan married Er's widow Tamar to fulfill this duty, but Onan realized that the child was not gonna be HIS heir and was angry about that factor, so you know what he did? He used Tamar as just a sex object and it prevented her from having a child, the act broke God's heart and God stoned Onan.
To spill your seed would simply mean to ditch God's command to provide an heir.
The story takes place in the first half of Genesis, Chapter 38, verses 1 through 10.
This was one of the first topics to cross my mind when I focused more on God's Word, and even one Christian gentleman on YouTube brought this up when answering the question on Masturbation, and I will bring that up in this teaching. Personally, I wouldn't want to have any kids, and my mom planned on getting me a vasectomy, and so for whatever reason, I wanted to figure out what DOES the Bible say about having vasectomies? Dr. Joel C. Hunter also did a quick little teaching on YouTube on this subject, and while what he was saying is true to an extent that "children ARE very important to the Lord's plan," and while this might be true, we need to also think about the fact that IF... a husband and wife are to refrain from having kids, they can, but it shouldn't be to the point where they don't have any sex, cause that will lead to adultery, which is a sin against God. I'll come to the conclusion that Masturbating doesn't have to be a sin as long as you're not looking at Porn or lusting off of someone, and taking birth control is definitely not a sin either, God created sex so that a man and woman in the holy institution of marriage who love eachother very much can excite themselves (thankfully). A topic like fornication would pretty much be a topic for another teaching.
Bless you!

1About that time, Judah left his brothers and settled near a man named Hirah, an Adullamite.
2There Judah saw the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua, and he took her as a wife and slept with her.
3So she conceived and gave birth to a son, and Judah named him Er.
4Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Onan.
5Then she gave birth to another son and named him Shelah; it was at Chezib that she gave birth to him.
6Now Judah acquired a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
7But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death.
8Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and raise up offspring for your brother.”
9But Onan knew that the offspring would not belong to him; so whenever he would sleep with his brother’s wife, he would spill his seed on the ground so that he would not produce offspring for his brother.
10What he did was evil in the LORD’s sight, so He put Onan to death as well.
